Four Hacks for Planning a Luxury Vacation

Have you ever seen your friends bounce around from one idyllic destination to the next and wonder, how can they afford to travel like that? While luxury travel might feel like a far-off goal or a once-in-a-lifetime occasion, it is more attainable than you think. Making minor adjustments to your travel itinerary or how you select your destination could mean the difference between staying in a private villa in an exotic destination versus booking something local for a long weekend.

I’m sharing some travel industry secrets to help make your next vacation a luxurious getaway.

Be Flexible With Your Dates

Flying and checking in/out of a hotel mid-week is one of the easiest ways to score a deal on a luxury vacation. While it’s a little unconventional compared to a Saturday to Saturday vacation, it can potentially save you hundreds of dollars for the same experience. You can also take it one step further and travel during the shoulder seasons of your destination’s traditional high season. This is when rates generally drop across the board, making more reasonably priced hotels, flights, resorts, etc.

Select Unique Destinations

While it is fun to travel to mainstream destinations, picking places off the beaten path can be a major cost-saving. These lesser-known destinations will still have luxurious boutique hotels, and you will be able to enjoy them without all of the crowds. Enjoying the peace and quiet and having the place to yourself is a luxury in and of itself!

Book In Advance

It’s no secret that the longer you wait to book a vacation, the more expensive it will be. Flights go up, hotels get booked, and you are left paying for the most costly option. When you book in advance, you will not only have your choice of availability, but you can take advantage of inexpensive rates before the prices start to go up.

Book With A Travel Advisor

One of the biggest misconceptions about working with a travel advisor is that you will spend more time working with them versus if you booked independently. However, that is not the case! While you may have to pay a one-time design fee, your travel advisor can unlock special rates and unique ideas for your trip that will save you time and money than if you had booked it yourself.
